THIS YEAR’S THEME: HOPE IS Alive

Expectations have been dashed, plans have disappeared, and life feels uncertain. What will fall 2020 be like? What is there to look forward to?  As we navigate this new normal let us come together to remember, in Christ, hope does not disappoint. Though the future is unclear, our hope is anchored in Christ. For He is in control and He is coming back again!

God is our refuge and strength,
    an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging

Psalm 46: 1-3

High school speakeR | Chris Gee

Chris is the Pastor of Discipleship and Students at Hillside Church in San Jose. He is a graduate of UCLA and The Master’s Seminary. He and his wife Linda have the joy of raising three spunky and rambunctious sons. It has been said of Chris that he is “trapped in the 90s” as evidenced by his love for polo shirts, Nike Air Force 1’s, Nintendo 64, and phrases like “fo’ sho’” and “you da man.” During his free time, Chris enjoys playing basketball, but it’s mainly for the cardio.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Get in your comfiest clothes and join us for daily activities and Corporate Worship. Daily activities will include crafts, skits, games, and more (Tu-F 10-11am and M-F 9-10:30pm), and Corporate Worship will include worship, a brief sermon, and small groups (M-F from 7:30-9pm). Life gets hectic and you might not be able to meet for every session, but be sure to make time for Corporate Worship.

Build lasting friendships with your small group, consisting of 6-8 other campers of your same gender and your two counselors.

Don’t forget to rack up those Cheevos!

Things to bring: some headphones to ensure you can hear the sessions. A Bible + a pen to follow along and take notes. Most importantly, bring yourself and get hyped to meet other people!

ABOUT OUR CAMPS

The first Bible camp was held at Loma Mar, a Boy scout camp in 1957. It began as a ministry of Chinese Bible Church in Oakland and a way to get away from the hectic life in the city. In the early years the staff did the cooking and the campers did KP. As the camp grew it moved to Meteor Ranch at Clear Lake. As more churches were planted, the camps continued to grow. Other churches in San Francisco, Sacramento and Stockton also joined the camp program.

Today, about 450 junior and senior high school students from some 12-14 churches attend the weeklong camps resulting in the salvation and dedication of scores of precious young people. Over the years it moved from different locations, but it has held its camps at the Mt. Hope Bible camps over the past 40+ years.
