THIS YEAR'S THEME

But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:23-24

Eternity is a long time... an unfathomably long time. What could we possibly be doing for that time? This Bible passage gives us this insight from our Lord and Savior Jesus' own words. The day is coming when we will finally do what we were designed to do - worship the one true God. The God who created us, loved us, and made Himself known to us. Like the title says, worship is more than the songs we sing at church and youth group. Worship is the vibrant and joyous response to who God is and what He has done. And worship is not just a personal response, but a celebration that is enjoyed with all followers of Jesus - of all tribes, tongues, and nations. What better way to start practicing true worship on earth than at CBM camp!

SPEAKERS

High School Camp Speaker - Chris Anderson

atest

Chris Anderson was the founding pastor of Tri-County Bible Church in Madison, Ohio, where he pastored for 15 years. For the last 9 years, Chris has pastored Killian Hill Baptist Church in Lilburn, Georgia. By God’s grace, more than 10 families from KHBC have been launched into missions or church ministry in the last several years.

I have a deep passion for missions. My new role will be to champion the cause of the Great Commission wherever and however I can. This will include writing, recruiting missionaries, consulting and networking with pastors and churches, leading vision trips to strategic mission fields, and especially preaching and teaching in churches, camps, conferences, and colleges and seminaries. I am thrilled to make the great work of getting the gospel light to the world’s darkest places my primary calling.” –Chris Anderson

Chris is the President and Chief Editor for Church Works Media, where he has published hymns like “His Robes for Mine” and “For the Sake of His Name,” the Gospel Meditations devotional series, and books like The God Who Satisfies, Panosian, and a forthcoming book on the power of Christian hymns, Theology That Sticks. His primary gift is preaching, and he finished his Doctor of Ministry degree in Expository Preaching from The Master’s Seminary.

Middle School Camp Speaker - Theo Low

Theo Low was born and raised in San Francisco. He spent ten years in LA for college and seminary, then moved back up to SF 8 years ago to do ministry in his hometown. Theo is now the Children’s Ministry Director at San Francisco Bible Church. When he is not doing ministry, he spends most of his time with his wife and four kids. As a family, they enjoy rooting for Bay Area sports teams, copping sneakers, Pokémon cards, and Funko Pops.

Workshops

+ *cancelling cancel culture (Tu/W)

We live in a society that preaches tolerance and acceptance, but what we have found is that tolerance and acceptance is often conditional. If someone does or says something we do not agree with, there is a real possibility of being canceled! In fact, when we are wronged or upset about a perceived injustice, we may be tempted to want to cancel others ourselves! But is canceling other people the only option or is there another way to relate to those the world wants to cancel? Discover what God’s Word has to say about whether cancel culture is the best way to relate with others!

+ *finna study my bible (Tu/W)

What is truth? Perhaps you have been asked this question by your friends or perhaps you are wondering this yourself! The Bible claims to be the true Word of God, but how do we know it is true? How do we know we can trust it? Can we even know for sure whether we can trust the Bible? Come find out!

+ *TFW... you serve others (Tu/W)

Jesus Christ revolutionized and changed the way we live. While on this earth, He revealed to us what it meant to live a godly life including taking what was common practice in the world and turning them upside down. The world tells us success is being the boss, being on top, and having others do your bidding. However, when we read the Bible we read passages like Mark 9:35:

"And he [Jesus] said to them, "If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all."

We're going to explore why it is important that we serve others, how we are blessed by blessing others, and think about how you can serve God even now!

+ *bigbrain choices (Th/F)

Life is full of choices. What interests or hobbies do I want to invest my time in? What should I do after school? Who should I choose to be friends? What do I want to be when I grow up? What should my boba order be? Ok, the last one is pretty easy, but with all these decisions that we have to make, how can we make decisions that honor God? Explore principles of godly decision making with us in this workshop!

+ *Mission Possible: understood the assignment (Th/F)

The task of bringing the gospel to the ends of the earth seems like a difficult, if not impossible task. But, by the grace of God, proclaiming the Gospel to the people is not impossible! In fact it is very possible! Discover what the Bible has to say about missions and learn how we might do our part to bring the good news of the Gospel to the people in our mission field!

+ *tryna be good enough (Th/F)

We go to church on Sunday. We attend fellowship. We read our Bibles. We generally do not do bad things. Surely God is pleased with us because we have believed in Jesus, right? Surely we are in a better spot than other people, right? Or do the sins in our life actually make the distance between us and God bigger? Which one is it? Come explore the greatness of God’s grace for our entire lives with us!
