Camp Theme: Identity War

We are experiencing a major shift in attitudes and thoughts about our personal identity. The culture tells us to break free from oppressive and conforming traditional roles and categories, and instead, define for ourselves who we are through self-expression and self-discovery of one's "true" self. Our theme this year, Identity War, seeks to address both the internal struggle within ourselves about our identities, as well as the contrasting views of the Bible and the world about identity. Thankfully, God has written in the Bible exactly who we are, where we are from, and what our purpose is in this life. And not only that, God has revealed to us through His Son, Jesus Christ, who He is, His nature, and His rich love and grace towards us.

Greatest Story
Ever Told

Spanning over 1,500 years, with 66 books, 40 authors and written in 3 different languages, the Bible is the greatest story ever told, but it doesn't stop there. The Bible isn't just a bunch of books put together, it is God's truth, connected in a way that only God could have orchestrated. There has never been a book that has impacted and changed so many lives with a consistent theme of God as Almighty. As a result, the Bible is also the most controversial book ever. Philippians 2:16 -holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I will have reason to glory because I did not run or toil in vain.

Jesus
is Better

Who is Jesus? What makes Jesus so special? Why should I follow Jesus? If you've ever wondered about these questions of would like to be able to better answer them, the book of Hebrews is a fantastic place to start. Hebrews has a wonderfully strong focus on the supremacy of Jesus Christ, and in this workshop, we will learn reasons for why we can and ought to savor Christ above all else.

Ant-Man and Wasp
(Godly Man, Godly Woman)

Men and Women. We are both created human, equal, and in God's image. Yet, despite the similarities, there are noticeable differences. What does it mean to be a man? What does it mean to be a woman? What is God's unique purpose for the both of us? Go beyond the deodorant, comb-overs, make-up, muscles, body figures, and discover how to be a a godly man and godly woman.

Rooted

Our faith is much like a plant. Where we root ourselves affects us in our faith, how we deal with troubled times in our lives, and how we face threats from others. For us to grow and thrive in our faith and be able to withstand the things that try to blow us away, we need to be rooted in the one Person that can and will provide for us - Jesus Christ. It is Christ around whom our faith revolves and gives us strength from being blown away by the world. Find out what it means to be rooted in Him as we grow in our daily lives.

The Gospel
for Real Life

Many of us who have grown up in the church of who have attended church for a short time are familiar with the gospel. We know that Jesus Christ lived the perfect life we could not live, that He died on the cross, that He rose again from the grave in three days so that when we believe in Him and turn away from our sins we will be saved. But now what? Is that all? Or is there more to it? Come and explore with us how the gospel affects our lives on a daily basis.

About Our Camps

The first Bible camp was held at Loma Mar, a Boy scout camp in 1957. It began as a ministry of Chinese Bible Church in Oakland and a way to get away from the hectic life in the city. In the early years the staff did the cooking and the campers did KP. As the camp grew it moved to Meteor Ranch at Clear Lake. As more churches were planted, the camps continued to grow. Other churches in San Francisco, Sacramento and Stockton also joined the camp program.

Today, about 450 junior and senior high school students from some 12-14 churches attend the weeklong camps resulting in the salvation and dedication of scores of precious young people. Over the years it moved from different locations, but it has held its camps at the Mt. Hope Bible camps over the past 40+ years. Starting in 2013, the Senior High Camp was moved to Mt. Gilead Bible Conference Grounds in Sebastopol, CA. The Junior High Camp continues at Mt. Hope Bible Conference Grounds in Challenge, CA.
